The Independent Electoral Commission (IEBC) has put on offer 47 competitive positions for County Returning Officers (CROs). The CROs will be on short-term employment contract for the actual days worked but for a period not more than 60 days. For each day worked, they’ll take home KES 3,000 with no additional benefits or allowances. Coming up to a total of KES 180,000 for the period, KES 8.46 million for the whole team.
The requirements and qualification of the applicants shall be:-
- CROs should be Graduates of at least ten years working experience in the public or private Sector;
- Must be Computer literate;
- Must have excellent computation and tallying ability;
- Must be of good character with no political affiliation at all;
- Must be willing to work anywhere in the country;
- Willing to work for long hours with minimal supervision; and
- Persons must be of absolute integrity and willing to abide with the Commission’s code of Conduct, all electoral laws and regulations.
However, Kenyans applying for this jobs should take note that Members or Employees of the Commission will be held liable on conviction to a term of imprisonment not exceeding three years or to a fine of not more than KES 1 Million or both for subverting the process of free, fair elections or interfering with the functions of the commission in discharging its duty. Thats in accordance to Section 30 of the IEBC Act.
