December 31st: The end of a year’s chapter and possibly a prelude to the coming year. It is also the one time when a large percentage of the world’s population is in a celebratory mood. And Kenya is no different. Parties will be organized on this day leaving some in a questionable state of mind. In the spirit of merriment, here are 5 places you may want to consider.

BeachLife NYE 2013 

This event is going to be hosted by 6 AM at the beach in Diani by Alliance Safari Beach Hotel. The party prides itself in international DJs and on this year’s list are Tom Middleton and Miss Nine. Music will range from Techno and house to dancehall and hip-hop. The scheduled start is 6 pm on 31st December and it will go on until 9 am. Strictly for those who are 21 years of age and over.

The Groove Party

Famed for its Christian orientation, the party attracts the masses to any given venue. Their main aim is to promote, expose and celebrate gospel talent. This year there will be free giveaways all night and they promise mind melting interactive visuals by Daylight Screens. The party will be held at Nyayo Stadium from 4 pm and will feature performances from Jimmy Gait and Gloria Muliro among others. An experience you cannot afford to miss.

The Countdown: IlCovo Bamburi 

Those who will be going to Mombasa can/should prepare themselves for what the promoter terms as the most power-packed line-up to ever hit Mombasa. The genres of music will range from electro to trance to hip-hop. The event attracted a crowd of well over 4000 and this year’s may be larger. On the decks will be popular DJs among them DJ Protégé, DJ Mista Dru and Crème De La Crème. Party starts at 8 pm and party people can expect 12 hours of non-stop music.

The Night: Smirnoff Vodka

 Dubbed the ultimate nightlife experience, the party will have a line-up of 16 international and local DJs playing on three stages. It promises to be the biggest New Year’s Eve party Nairobi has ever seen. DJ Shaun ‘Banger’ Scott from the UK and Dino Bravo from South Africa are but a few of the celebrities that will grace the booth. The party will be held at Carnivore Restaurant and they guarantee it will be a night to remember. Event starts at 8pm.

House Party

This type of event is the most popular and has seen people enjoy themselves at their own pace. Key features include playlists from one’s own sources and timing at own pleasure. Save for possible complaints about noise and the responsibility associated with hosting a house party (or attending one), it makes for quite the memorable occasion. Location is up to the individual and costs associated with intention.
