Kenya Airways shareholders will receive a 25 cent per share dividend payment this year.
The Board of Directors of the airline have recommended a first and final dividend of 25 cents per share for ordinary shareholders of the stock. The company's total dividend payout will remain the same at KES 693 million but following the recent rights issue (read an article on that here), the number of ordinary shares has increased from 461,615,484 shares to 1,938,785,033 after the rights issue, a 4-fold increase. Following the increase in the number of shares and the 53% drop in profits in the year, the dividend payout to shareholders has been sliced 6 times from the KES 1.50 that shareholders were paid last year to KES 0.25 they will get this year.
The dividend drop from KES 1.50 to KES 0.25 marks an 83.33% reduction in money shareholders will receive.
