1. Samsung Pilots Paperless Learning in Kenya

Local primary schools may soon shun the use of exercise books and blackboards after Samsung Electronics East Africa embarked on a pilot program geared at transforming traditional classrooms to multimedia teaching environments. In a development that could herald the evolution of basic learning solutions in local private and public schools, Samsung Electronics East Africa has initiated a strategic program to integrate digital technology in basic education.

2. Coop Bank Signs KES 5 Billion Deal to Boost SME's

Cooperative Bank has signed a KES5.1 billion ($61 million) loan agreement with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to increase its credit to Small and Medium Enterprises in the country. The bank’s Managing Director Gideon Muriuki said the loan which has a tenure of seven years will also be used to support agriculture projects.

3. Consumer Groups Criticise State's Tv Switch off Move

Consumer groups have protested against a government decision to switch off analogue television transmission in Nairobi at the end of this month. In a letter dated December 3, the Consumer Federation of Kenya (Cofek) questioned the decision to migrate Nairobi to the digital platform, citing the costs of equipment and the coming election.

6. 8 Injured in Nairobi Blast

Eight people were injured on Wednesday evening when an explosion went off near a scrap metal store in Nairobi’s California estate. Eye witnesses told the Nation the explosion went off shortly after 7pm, getting pedestrians off guard. Nation reporters saw a hole of about 50 centimetres near the store where the explosion is said to have occurred.

7. Nairobi Lawyer Sues IEBC Over Election Act

Nairobi based lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui has filed a case against Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission claiming that it has failed to enforce election act 2011.  Kinyanjui is seeking 21 court orders against the electoral body. In his petition he alleges that the body has failed to uphold the election act 2011 against state officers who are using state cars in campaign rallies.

8. Fresh Row at KQ As 400 Workers Reject Terms

Kenya Airways has given 400 retrenched workers compulsory paid leave until further notice, just a day after the Industrial court ordered the airline’s management to reinstate them. However, the workers rejected the offer, saying KQ wanted to buy time as it seeks to appeal the ruling.
