2. Energy Minister Cancels Oil Import Tending Following Queries on Pricing
The ministry of Energy was on Thursday forced to cancel an oil import tender after questions were raised on the process and pricing — said to have been over 200 per cent above normal import rates. The ministry had on Wednesday awarded tenders for the delivery of murban crude priced at $2.83 and $3.16 per barrel against the industry’s average of $0.90.
3. Consumers Oppose CCK Drive to Block Fake Phones
A consumer group has moved to court seeking to stop the Communications Commission of Kenya from switching off nearly three million counterfeit phones. Mr Japhet Muroko, Mr Roni Achoki, Mr Mark Ndung’u, and Mike Mutembei filed the petition on Thursday on behalf of Bunge la Wazalendo and residents of Mathare Constituency, have accused the three government bodies of taking a decision that will lead to loss of over Sh9 billion expended in purchasing the phones.

5. JinkoSolar cooperate with CJIC to Develop Kenya’s Largest Solar Power Plant
The project is planned to occupy 81 hectare and is expected to be one of the largest grid connected solar power plants in Africa. Located in northwest city of Garissa, Kenya, the plant is expected to produce approximately 76,473 megawatts hours per year, reducing yearly carbone missions by 64,190 tons and saving coal consumption by 24,470 tons annually.
6. KQ Set to Hire Foreigners after Firing Locals
Kenya Airways is set to hire an undisclosed number of employees from other countries it flies to despite sending home about 600 staff, most of them Kenyans. On Thursday, the airline told its shareholders that it hired 479 employees in its last financial year only to later sack an almost similar number.
