Sources from Vivo energy have indicated that there is no completion of agreement to sell Shell assets in Africa, as it had been reported by some section of the media. The partnership between Vitol, an international oil trader and Helios, a private equity firm, and Shell has been there from the creation of the of Vivo Energy Group.
Unlike what we had reported earlier, sources from Vivo Energy have informed us that Vivo Energy has no plans to rebrand Shell Kenya petrol stations as Vivo Energy. Change in brand is subject to legal and regulatory approval. Vivo Energy Kenya will continue to operate Shell petrol stations under the Shell brand and will continue to market Shell branded fuels and lubricants to customers in Kenya.
It is also important to note that Vivo Energy is not looking to develop new Energy products and solutions for Africa, as some section of the media had earlier reported. Vivo Energy though looks into increasing sales of current Shell products.
Vivo Energy plans to utilize its brand as a corporate identity while maintaining the Shell products and brand at the customer interface. Rebranding will only occur internally and will be reflected on the company’s stationary, web presence, corporate signage on building or letterheads, corporate communication items and of course business cards. The general public and customers will not notice a difference as the customer facing brand remains the same – Shell.
Vivo Energy’s strategy is to increase sales of Shell products in all ten African countries in which they operate.
