In today’s trading, the NSE 20 share index closed at 3,725 points compared to 3,681 points one week ago. The NSE All-Share index closed at 80.90 points while the FTSE NSE Kenya 25 index closed at 110.13 points.
KEY ACTIVITY
In today’s trading activity at the NSE, Safaricom had the highest volume of shares traded with 4.82 million shares traded compared to 6.43 million shares traded on Friday. The share closed at KES 3.50 similar to last week. Second in volumes traded was KenGen which traded 2.61 million shares and closed at KES 8.75 up 3.55% from last week’s close of KES 8.45.
Third was the Equity Bank counter which had a volume of 1.14 million shares traded, while the share closed at KES 21.75 down 4.4% from KES 22.75 last week which was the highest share price recorded by the bank this year. KenolKobil followed with 828,300 shares traded down 3.7% from 859,000 shares traded at the close of last week’s trading. The petroleum company’s share meanwhile closed up 9.12% at KES 15.55 from KES 14.25 last week , continuing an uninterrupted rise from mid last week.
Fifth in trading volume was the Mumias share, which traded 815,800 shares today and lost 5 cents to close at KES 6.25 from KES 6.20 last week. Mumias showed a decline in trading volume today in comparison with the 1.052 million shares traded at the end of last week.
