INDICES

The NSE 20 Share Index has today climbed 8.05 points to 3,823.49 points from 3,815.44 points yesterday while the All Share Index has gained 0.40 points from yesterday to settle today at 83.86 points.

HIGHEST VOLUMES

Safaricom was the most traded share today with 36.75 million shares up from 2.14 million shares yesterday while second was Equity Bank with 7.88 million shares traded up from 5.12 million yesterday. Third was CIC Insurance Group with 1.42 million shares traded while fourth was Barclays Bank with 920,000 shares moving across the counter. Mumias Sugar was fifth most traded with 838,500 shares down from 1.36 million shares yesterday.

COUNTER WATCHLIST

  • British American Tobacco – Shares in the cigarette maker closed today at their highest price in more than 5 years at KES 400 per share after gaining one shilling in the day.
  • Crown Berger – The manufacturer of Crown Paints closed today at its peak price of KES 34.75 reached for a fourth time this year. The share gained 75 cents in the day.
  • Sasini – The tea and coffee grower’s share gained 5 cents today to close at KES 11.10. This is the share’s second consecutive gain since it dropped 8 percent to KES 11.00 between Monday and Wednesday this week after a profit warning was issued on Friday.
