The registrar of motor vehicles Francis Meja has said that ONLY private vehicles qualify to have personalized registration plates. Public service vehicles (PSVs), cargo trucks, ambulance and funeral hearse vehicles, diplomatic cars, tractors, and heavy machinery vehicles DO NOT qualify. Those that will contravene to these regulation with inappropriate number plates will be fined KES 500, 000.
To get a personalised number plate, you will pay KES 1 Million. Pesatalk had earlier reported that to acquire such will cost you KES 100, 000, but Kenya Revenue Authoritie's Road Transport Department has confirmed KES 1 Million as the stipulated fee.

Only a maximum of 7 characters in capital letters, embossed in blue with a reflective white background on the front and rear plates will be allowed, although the registrar says but the registrar will have to approve your license plate after scrutiny to wad off politically connotative words and vulgar.
