INDICES

The NSE 20 Share Index today edged up 0.93 percent to 3,878.13 points from 3,842.38 points yesterday while the All Share Index gained 0.54 percent to 84.36 points from 83.91 points yesterday.

HIGHEST VOLUMES

British American shares were today the most traded with 21.80 million while Cooperative Bank were second with 1.55 million shares up from 1.42 million shares yesterday. Equity Bank shares were third with 1.54 million shares while fourth were Kenya Power with 1.48 million shares up from 823,500 shares yesterday. KCB were fifth most traded with 1.09 million shares.

COUNTER WATCH

  • Olympia Capital Holdings – Reports that the holding company is set to acquire full ownership in its Botswana manufacturing subsidiary seemed not to affect the share which closed at KES 32 similar to yesterday.
  • Crown Paints (Crown Berger) – One day after announcing higher earnings, the share closed at a new one year high of KES 36 after rising 1 shilling from yesterday’s close. The paints manufacturer yesterday released half-year earnings where pre-tax profit rose 46 percent to 109.6 million shillings and turnover grew 16 percent to 2.1 billion shillings.
  • British American Tobacco – The share topped yesterday’s high to close at a new high of KES 415 per share after gaining 6 shillings in the day.
