1. Safaricom Sacks 70 workers over Theft and Bribery

Safaricom has sacked about 70 employees in the past one year over fraud, in what highlights the rising cases of economic crime in corporate Kenya. The mobile telephone company said it had detected 114 cases of economic crime, including accounting fraud, asset misappropriation and bribery in the past year, which led to the sackings and prosecution of 16 workers.

4. Two new universities

On Friday, the commission issued letters of interim authority to Riara University and Pioneer International University.  Riara University which will be offering programs including, Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Education among others, and has a school of law and a school of business. Pioneer International University will be offering programs including Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.
