The Stocks Market today

The NSE 20 Share Index today maintained at the 52 week high of 3,959.10 points. NIC Bank, Car & General and Kenya-Re are the top gainers today with an average of increase of 4.37%. The automobiles and accessories sector maintained prices for all listed companies while most of the counters dealing with the banking sector saw a decrease in the prices.

HIGHEST VOLUMES

Safaricom shares were today the most traded with 3.76 million while Mumias Sugar Company fell second with a volume of 2.47 million shares traded. Equity Bank were third most traded with 2.42 million shares while fourth was Kenya Power with 1.96 million shares.

COUNTER WATCH

  • Unga Group - The shares have maintained a price of KES 15.00 for the day. There is much anticipation of the company making an announcement towards the end of this month regarding the year's performance. There is speculation that the dividend payment might be higher.
  • CFC Stanbic Rights -  The rights were amongst the top losers at the stock market yesterday losing 9.05% to close at KES 5.05 per right from KES 5.55 previously. We will be watching them to see how they do in light of the on going rights issue that closes on the 8th of October.  CFC Stanbic Holdings is carrying out the rights issue to raise 4 billion shillings to expand their subsidiary.
  • Pan Africa Insurance Holdings Ltd - The shares are one of the day's top losers having lost by 3.90%. This marks one of the price decreases in contrast to the general increase the share price has been exhibiting. Hubris Holding Ltd, a unit of Sanlam, is looking to increase its stake in the listed company.
