Auction Price for Kenyan Coffee Rises 9.6%

Kenya's grade AA coffee top price rose by 9.6% to $342 (KES 29,070) a bag this week from $312 (KES 26,520) last week. This is according to the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE) Wednesday October 3 market report. During the auction, Grade AA COF-AA-KE sold at $132 (KES 11,220)-$342 (KES 29,070) a bag, up from $212 (KES 18,020)-$312 (KES 26,520) last week.

It was $146 (KES 12,410)-$232 (KES 19,720) for a bag of grade AB COF-AB-KE compared to last week's $154 (KES 13,090)-$232 (KES 19,720). According to NCE, out of the 10,851 bags on offer, only 5,276 bags were sold. Last week 17,257 bags were offered, with only 9,587 selling. In total, the Kenyan bean gathered a total of $1.16 million(KES 98.6 million) with the average price being $179.37 (KES 15,246.45), compared to last week when $1.96 million (KES 166.6 million) was collected from the sale of beans at an average price at $168.21 (KES 14,297.85).

Kenyan coffee is sold in US Dollars per 50 kilos in at the NCE auction.
