Our new office is located next to a mall- the Junction Mall to be precise, and thus eateries are in plenty. Dormans, Planet Yoghurt, KFC, Java House, The Phoenician, Art Caffe, Mediterraneo...the list is long. But, you may be aware, these are not exactly pocket friendly places to eat on the daily. A decent meal at the leat priced of those will set you back at least KES 300. This means that to eat, daily, we have to find somewhere else.

This afternoon, we decided to explore the University of Nairobi's Kenya Science College that's right across the road from us, and see what they had to offer.

We got to the Kenya Science Cafeteria and almost walked out again in disbelief. On a sheet of foolscap taped to the wall, the prices of the day's meals were on display: Ugali - 6/-,  Bean Stew - 15/-, Chapati - 10/-, Ndengu - 10/-. We had '6 chapatis, 2 ndengus and 1 bean stew', as the lady at the till summarised it. Total cost - KES 105.

The food bordered on being inedible  was not too bad and it was great to know that  in this city, and in this day and age, it's possible to feed 3 guys for KES 100.
