In line with the above, Safaricom recently partnered with AAR to launch Health Telepresence, a product that will be used in timely delivery of health services even in remote areas.
Health Telepresence is a technology that uses video conferencing to allow provision of health services. This bridges the physical distance between the patient and the doctor and the cost of accessing the service.
With telepresence, a patient can consult a doctor who is in a different location and get examined using clinical equipment that comes as part of the solution. These include a stethoscope to listen to the chest, probes to examine the ear and throat, dermoscope for skin compliants.the patient is assisted by a medical assistance who they often find easier to access. The doctor can conduct the consultation conveniently through devices like desktops, Laptops, Ipads and Tablets, even when mobile or away from their offices or hospitals. The software and connectivity is being hosted by Safaricom.
