They've Got Milk

Eastleigh is the land of milk, but without the honey. In the past few weeks, there has been a shortage of milk in the estate shops and some supermarkets. But while the rest of the country was scouting from a shop to another in search of  just a packet, milk was abundant in Eastleigh. Women would sit along the street dispensing it to customers from midday to late evening. It is however important to note that this milk is of its own kind.

Every morning, pastoralists in Isiolo milk their camels, pack the commodity into jerrycans which  are then loaded into Nairobi bound buses to be delivered  in Eastleigh by midday.

You can buy the milk for both drinking and making tea, and half a litre goes for about KES 20
