The Kenya Revenue Authority has proposed to have all Kenyans over the age of 21 years be required to file tax return irrespective of whether they are earning an income.

This is a move by KRA to bring more people into the taxpaying bracket as pressure to increase revenue collection builds. Several policy and administration measures taken have negatively impacted revenue collection.

Tax revenue is required to finance the implementation of the new Constitution.
