The Safaricom counter had 63 million shares traded in the last session at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. The share, usually a big mover averaging between 3 and 5 million shares trading per day (10.6 million shares on average have been traded in the last month), had 63,018,800 shares traded over the six-hour session on Thursday. While this is indeed a large number of shares, it is important to recall that there are currently 10 billion Safaricom shares listed on the NSE. The 63 million traded shares accounts for just 0.63% of the listed shares and is really a drop in the ocean.
In trading, the share price ranged between highs of KES 3.30 and lows of KES 3.20.
