Today being the World Environment Day, here at Pesatalk, we celebrate it by looking at how what we buy affects the environment , and how we can reduce these effects on nature and save money at the same time. Here are some four ways to save on money while saving the environment.
Go Paperless.
Do you remember those high school years when we used to send our ‘crushes’ love letters? In as much as it was fun and romantic, I think letter writing should start and stop in high school. There are so many benefits from going paperless. Your information is more secure, you save a lot of paper plus you get to cut down on stationary expenditure. It’s cheaper and user friendly going paperless. You not only save a tree but spend less on communication.
Rethink your mode of transport, use public transport.
Owning a car is one of my goals in life, but again, I am sure getting one will increase my travel expenses. That is why I still stick to public transportation. I not only manage to do some work on my phone while commuting, but also get some shut-eye time when need be. There’s also the option of getting a bike which would most definitely save us on time and money plus help reduce carbon dioxide emission.
Turn off
I find it very irritating to see someone leave lights on in a vacant room. There is a famous line that goes- Even you wouldn't like it if someone turned you on and left. Turning off lights is an easy thing to do which most people forget. All one has to do is just press a button. Did you know that a DVD player on standby mode consumes 50% of the energy they use while fully on.
Consider energy efficient alternatives.
Energy-efficient light bulbs might be more expensive than incandescent light bulbs but they consume one-third to one-fifth of electricity power and last eight to fifteen times longer than incandescent light bulbs. Did you also know that a stocked fridge consumes less electricity than an empty one?
These are just some of the energy efficient alternatives that will definitely cut down on your costs and also save the environment.
