Safaricom Ltd yesterday reduced its off-net calling rates from KES 5 to KES 4 per minute, in promotional offer valid from 6th June 2012 to 5th July 2015.
Airtel, Kenya’s second largest mobile service provider, has joined this battle for subscribers by unveiling a product that offers free Facebook and Twitter browsing and reduced its calling rates. The product, dubbed mi ni 254 offers Airtel subscribers:
- Free Facebook and Twitter.
- Opportunity to choose 10 friends and family to call all day and night at KES 1 per minute plus free SMS to them all day and night.
- Free Airtel Hello tunes for 30 days
- Free music listening on Airtel Ngoma service from 10p.m to 6a.m when they subscribe by dialing 301
The mi ni 254 product will though attracts a charge of KES 1 per day and to join one has to dial *254#
I guess the battle for mobile subscribers is far from over. Let’s wait and see what Orange and Yu Mobile will unveil next.
