This past long weekend, there were many complains on social media about ATMs which were out of service. It seems that most of them went on a long weekend as well, leaving customers stranded without access to their money. At this stage, banking via mobile money always comes in handy.
But there is another option that DeShawn Stevenson has proven possible. The Brooklyn Nets NBA star, possibly tired of out-of-service ATMs, has gone ahead and installed an ATM in his kitchen. It is also emerging that Stevenson charges friends a $4.50 fee for transactions. The ATM, which cost $3,500 to install, is also said to contain $20,000 and is restocked up to six times per year. But why have an ATM in the kitchen? Well, what do you know- “I like doing things that aren’t normal and it’s cool to have,” he said.
Quite the money-making tool, don’t you think? In the meantime, Kenyan banks need to find a solution to this persistent problem of ATM breakdowns. We cannot all have ATMs in the kitchen, can we?
