It’s almost pay day and guys will soon be flocking the supermarkets to do their monthly shopping. We have compiled a couple of payment options that could not only save you on time, but also make your shopping more convenient.
1. Paying via VISA card
Did you know that you can use your VISA debit card to shop at your nearest supermarket? Currently, most banks don't charge customers any extra fee for paying using their VISA debit cards. This means that when you swipe your card at the supermarket you will only be charged the amount you have incurred in your shopping, you will not be charged any additional card fees. If your bank doesn't charge you for paying using your VISA card, then the card is more convenient than paying by cash. It also saves you the inconveniences associated with handling cash. It is however advisable to contact your bank regarding any charges on your VISA card.
2: Paying via M-PESA
While not every supermarket accepts payments for goods and services using M-Pesa, Uchumi Supermarket and Naivas Supermarket accept M-Pesa payments. However, this should not limit your end of month shopping to Uchumi and Naivas since an M-Pesa Pre-Pay Safari Card lets you shop at any supermarket. M-Pesa Pre-Pay Safari Card is an initiative by M-Pesa and I & M Bank to expand M-Pesa usage by offering an M-Pesa VISA debit card. All you have to do is load the card using your M-Pesa menu with amounts between KES 100 to KES 35,000.
