In today’s trading Safaricom Limited was observed to be the largest mover recording an exchange of 14.03 million shares. This was probably buoyed by the anticipation and the aftermath of the announcement of their financial results for the period ended 31st December 2011. After Safaricom was ScanGroup Limited with 7.06 million shares traded. ScanGroup does not often feature in the highest movers and it may be worthwhile to hypothesize why demand for the share has risen. Cooperative Bank of Kenya traded 1.58 million shares, the bank is yet to announce its first quarter results and hence the anticipation surrounding this may be propelling the share. Mumias Sugar Company traded 1.05 million shares and TPS Eastern Africa (Serena) Limited came in fifth with 535,700 shares traded.
