At today’s NSE trading, the NSE 20-Share Index closed up 1 percent at 3,825.93 points up from 3,788.52 points yesterday while the NSE All-Share Index also closed up today gaining 0.30 percent to close at 82.26 points from 82.50 points yesterday.
HIGHEST VOLUMES
For a second day, Safaricom was the most traded share with 16.54 million shares moving across the counter up from 2.80 million shares yesterday. On their second day of trading at the NSE, CIC Insurance Group shares were the second most active shares with 5.70 million shares traded up from 1.62 million shares yesterday. Equity Bank shares were the third most traded with 1.88 million shares moving across the counter while Co-operative Bank shares were fourth with 1.08 million shares traded. Kenya Commercial Bank shares were the fifth most traded with 818,500 shares moving across the counter.
COUNTER WATCHLIST
- CIC Insurance Group – In their second day of trading at the NSE, CIC Insurance Group shares were a top loser, closing down 8.57 percent at KES 4.80 after closing 50 percent higher at yesterday’s trading. Read more on the CIC Insurance Group listing here.
- Safaricom – Safaricom shares gained for a fourth consecutive day topping yesterday’s high to close at a new one year high of KES 3.85 from KES 3.75 yesterday.
- Housing Finance – Shares in Kenya’s biggest mortgage lender closed 0.32 percent higher at KES 15.50 from KES 15.45 yesterday. For the months to June 30th this year, the lender announced its slowest profit growth since 2008 owing to lower mortgage sales. Read more on this here.
