HIGHEST VOLUMES
Safaricom today had the highest volume of shares traded with 7.46 million shares traded followed by Kenya Commercial Bank with 1.41 million shares traded. Diamond Trust Bank was the third most active counter, with 1.40 million shares traded while Kenya Power & Lighting Company was fourth most active with 1.16 million shares traded today. EABL were the fifth most traded shares with 380,400 shares traded today.
COUNTER WATCHLIST
- KCB – The share was the second most traded at the NSE today. On Friday, the Bank elected Eng. Musa Ndeto the new Group Chairman at its 41st Annual General Meeting, replacing Peter Wanyaga Muthoka who retired after completing his 8-year stipulated term, according to the Bank’s website.
- National Bank of Kenya –Today, it was reported in the Business Daily that the NSSF will not influence the appointment of directors at National Bank towards compliance with new CBK regulations that half of non-executive bank directors must be independent. The share fell 1.56% back to last Friday’s closing price of KES 19.20.
- Diamond Trust Bank – The share was the third highest traded today while its price remained the same as at last week’s close at KES 104. In an official disclosure released last month, the Bank revealed that it will conduct a rights issue of 24.5 million new ordinary shares targeted to raise Ksh 1.8 billion to finance the Bank’s strategic expansion. The shares are to be listed on the 12th of September this year according to the disclosure.
- Centum Investments – Today marked the first day that the share did not decline since Tuesday last week where the share had closed at KES to 13.75 and then declined 7.3 % to KES 12.75 on Friday where it remained at today’s close of trading. Last week, the CMA confirmed that the company will face a fine for failing to give a profit warning for its full year results announced last month.
- East African Breweries Ltd – The share closed at a new 5-year high of KES 227. On June 21st, the company unveiled a new corporate look and media platforms to enhance stakeholder interaction as reported on the company’s website.
