INDICES
The NSE 20 Share Index today gained 0.28 percent to 3,819.45 points from 3,808.47 points yesterday while the All Share Index edged up marginally to 83.70 points from 83.48 points yesterday.
HIGHEST VOLUMES
Safaricom shares were today the most traded with 2.93 million shares from 571,500 shares while second were CIC Insurance with 1.45 million shares from 465,100 shares yesterday. Third most traded shares were Centum Investment shares with 1.12 million shares while the fourth were Cooperative Bank with 1.90 million shares from 439,800 shares yesterday. The fifth most traded share was Mumias Sugar Company with 604,100 shares moving across the counter.
COUNTER WATCH
- Diamond Trust Bank – The bank’s shares lost 1.01 percent today to close at KES 98.50 from KES 99.50 yesterday. DTB shares have been trading high on the back of a just concluded rights issue that closed 2 weeks ago. Since then, the shares have fluctuated between KES 99 and KES 92 compared to below KES 95 for most of the year.
- Bamburi Cement – Shares in East Africa’s largest cement producer gained 1 shilling to KES 180 which is their second highest price since early last year. Since June, Bamburi shares have been on a rally as one of the highly sought after blue chip shares at the NSE.
- Nation Media Group – The media group’s shares gained 5 shillings to KES 193 which was their highest in 3 years. The shares have been rallying since the Group posted financial growth in most of its businesses for the six months to June this year. Read more here.
