INDICES
The NSE 20 Share Index today fell just under two points to stand at 3,817.70 points from 3,819.45 points yesterday while the All Share Index edged up to 84.01 points from 83.48 points yesterday.
HIGHEST VOLUMES
Equity Bank shares were today the most traded with 3.99 million shares while second were those of Cooperative Bank with 2.66 million shares. Safaricom were third most traded with 2.49 million shares down from 2.93 million shares yesterday. Fourth were Centum shares with 1.99 million shares traded up from 1.12 million shares yesterday. Kenya Power shares were the fifth most traded with 1.6 million shares across the counter.
COUNTER WATCH
- British American Tobacco – The share dropped one shilling to close at KES 398 moving it further away from the 400 shilling high reached one week ago.
- Limuru Tea Company – The share closed at KES 450 today where it has remained since mid-June. Yesterday the tea grower posted a 93 percent drop in half-year profit to 678,000 shillings from 9.3 million in the same period last year. Read more on this here.
- Nation Media Group – The shares continued their rally today to close at a new high of KES 199 after rising 6 shillings. The shares have been rallying since Nation Media posted financial growth in its main business segments for the six months to June. Recent launch of NationHela, an international money transfer service could also be propping up the share.
