Safaricom was the day’s biggest mover, continuing the trend from last week, trading 19 million shares within the six hour session with a turnover of KES 63.49 million. The share closed at KES 3.30, the same as it opened. Equity Bank counter had 5 million shares moving in 123 bids to close 5 cents up at KES 20.00, signifying a 3.23% increase in the share price. Mumias Sugar continued its run today, 1.87 million shares changing hands to close 20 cents up at KES 6.30, a 3.28% increase in the share price. The NSE received news of Kenya Re’s financial results for the year ended 31st December 2011 (read more on that here) with the company reporting a 24% increase in its profits.
