Safaricom was the day’s biggest mover, continuing the trend from last week, trading 6.69 million shares within the six hour session. The share closed at KES 3.40, 10 cents higher than it closed yesterday. Equity Bank counter had 5.02 million shares moving in 60 bids to close 25 cents up at KES 20.25, signifying a 1.25% increase in the share price. KPLC was next with 1.04 million shares changing hands to close 5 cents lower at KES 15.30. This was followed by KCB which moved 750,900 share and closed at 23.75, the same level at which it closed yesterday. To wrap up the top five was EABL which moved 240,800 shares and closed at KES 216, a shilling higher than the level it closed at yesterday.

It is worth noting that the Kenya Reinsurance share closed 16.25% higher than it did yesterday. This is highly unusual and may be in response to the announcement of their financial results yesterday. The company announced a 24% jump in profits and this seems to have had a significant effect on the performance of the share.
