INDICES
The NSE 20 Share Index today marginally dropped 0.07 percent to 3,875.11 points from 3,878.13 yesterday while the All Share Index gained 0.6 percent to 84.87 points from 84.36 points yesterday.
HIGHEST VOLUMES
CIC Insurance shares were today the most traded with 2.17 million shares while Equity Bank were second with 1.85 million shares up from 1.54 million shares yesterday. Mumias Sugar were third with 1.47 million shares while fourth were Kenya Power with 1.24 million shares down from 1.48 million shares yesterday. Barclays Bank was the fifth most traded share with 975,500 shares across the counter.
COUNTER WATCH
- CFC Insurance Holdings – One day after posting a 23 percent drop in half-year earnings to 340.7 million shillings for the half year ended June, shares in the insurance group lost 10 cents to close at KES 7.35 per share. This is a low range for the share which has traded above KES 7.5 for the better part of this year.
- British American Tobacco – After closing at a record high of KES 414 yesterday, BAT shares today lost 2 shillings to close at KES 412 per share. Since late March, the shares’ price has almost doubled, rising 76 percent from the KES 230 trading range in the first quarter of this year.
- Nation Media Group – The shares edged up one shilling to close at KES 205 which is 1 shilling lower than their 3 year high of KES 206 reached on Friday last week.
