INDICES

The NSE 20 Share Index today marginally dropped 0.27 percent to 3,855.14 points from 3,865.76 points at the close of last week while the All Share Index gained 0.34 percent to 84.95 points from 84.66 points on Friday last week.

HIGHEST VOLUMES

KCB shares were today the most traded with 8.65 million shares from 1.04 million on Friday while KenolKobil were second with 8.05 million shares from 2.65 million shares at the close of last week. Mumias Sugar were third with 1.17 million shares down from 2.01 million shares on Friday while fourth were Cooperative Bank with 1.08 million shares. CIC Insurance were the fifth most traded shares with 1.02 million shares across the counter.

COUNTER WATCH

  • NIC Bank Rights – The Rights were the second most gaining shares at the NSE today after gaining 40 cents to KES 10.40 from KES 10.00 at the close of last week. The rights are set to trade until Friday this week and we will you updated on how they perform.
  • Kakuzi – The shares closed at KES 75 today similar to last week despite the agricultural firm posting a 21 percent drop in half year profit after tax to 103.3 million shillings owing to the sale of its tea growing subsidiary, Siret Tea Company Ltd (STCL).
  • Olympia Capital Holdings – News that tow top shareholders with a combined stake of 21.2 percent have quit their board positions appears to have had no impact on the share which closed today at Friday’s price of KES 3.55
