Flame Tree Group Holdings Limited was the top gainer at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). The counter registered a gain of 9.66% to end the day at KES 7.95. This was a KES 0.70 gain in share price.
Flame Tree Group’s improvement in share price comes shortly after they delved into the food business with the acquisition of four food and snack brands from Chirac Kenya. The company made a play into the food business as part of a strategy to grow its fast moving consumer goods portfolio. The company stated that the four brands had a turnover of 90 million shillings in 2014. The four brands flame tree is made a play for include the nature’s own range of spices, chigs potato crisps, honeycomb biscuits and the nut processing business.
I&M Bank closed the day as the worst performing share registering a drop of 9.7%. The counter closed with a share price of KES 121.00 which was a KES 13.00 drop in share price.
Safaricom Limited was the most traded share in the exchange today. It traded 11,532,600 shares which was 59.1% of all trades in the market.
