Flame Tree Group Holdings Limited was the top gainer at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). The counter registered a gain of 6.13% to end the day at KES 8.65. This was a KES 0.50 gain in share price.
Car & General (Kenya) Ltd closed the day as the worst performing share registering a drop of 9.78%. The counter closed with a share price of KES 41.50 which was a KES 4.50 drop in share price.
Safaricom Limited was the most traded share at the exchange today. It traded 34.340.000 shares which was 58.9% of all trades in the market.
Safaricom was today named the 7th best performing share at the exchange over the last five months. Its share price went up by 8% and this was largely driven by the anticipation of a solid set of full year figures for the telecommunications firm, whose financial year ends March 31.
The firm recorded a 38 percent increase in profit after tax in full year results with total revenue increasing by13 percent to Sh163.4 billion and a jump in earnings per share of 40 percent, and a dividend payout of Sh0.64 per share, representing an increase of 36 percent on the previous year’s dividend.
