Kenya Airways shares traded the highest with 3.94 million shares exchanging hands. The share price dipped 10 cents (-0.75%) to close at KES 13.20. Safaricom came in second with 3.43 million shares traded while its share price remained stagnant at KES 3.50. KCB was third with 2.84 million shares traded while its share price showed no change today to settle at KES 23.50. Mumias Sugar trading volume was 2.58 million shares while its price dipped 25 cents (-3.88%) to close at KES 6.20. KenGen shares were the fifth most traded with 1.91 million shares exchanging hands by the market’s close. The KenGen share price however did not change and closed at KES 8.20 similar to yesterday.
In total, 21,711,400 shares were traded today in 1,603 deals.
Meanwhile, the NSE 20-share index fell 12.31 points (-0.33%) to close at 3,682.24 points.
On the day that saw 1.03 billion new Kenya Airways shares listed on the NSE, the share price showed a slight decline by closing at KES 13.20 compared to KES 13.30 and KES 13.35 in the previous two days. This price was just 10 cents higher than KES 13.10 which is the second lowest price the share has closed at this year. The Safaricom share closed at KES 3.50, a price also recorded in June and is the highest price the share has closed at this year. KCB showed no change in its closing share price today, but was still 2.17% higher than its price one week ago. Today saw Mumias Sugar share price continued to fall, reaching 5.64% lower than its highest closing price of this year recorded only two days ago. KenGen closed at KES 18.20 showing no further increase in price since Monday this week.
