INDICES
In today’s trading, the NSE 20 share index gained 12 points to stand at 3,738 points from 3,726 points yesterday. The All-Share index today stood at 81.3 points from 80.90 points yesterday. Meanwhile, the FTSE NSE Kenya 25 index closed today’s trading at 110.13 points up from 109.79 points yesterday.
HIGHEST VOLUMES
Safaricom again had the highest volume of shares traded with 14.14 million shares exchanging hands, up from 4.82 million yesterday. This represented a sharp rise of 9.32 million shares traded on the Safaricom counter.
Co-operative Bank followed with 2.42 million shares traded. Same as yesterday, Equity Bank followed third with 2.32 million shares traded which was 1.18 million shares more than yesterday. The fourth most shares traded were Centum Investments which had 1.32 million shares traded. KenolKobil was fifth with 867,000 shares traded today.
COUNTER WATCHLIST
- Diamond Trust Bank – The share gained 4 shillings to close at KES 104 up from KES 100 at yesterday’s close. This is the highest price the bank’s share has hit this year with 18,900 shares traded today. On 7th July, the bank will have a rights issue opening targeted to raise Ksh 1.8 billion.
- Kenya Airways – This share was up 1.98% today closing at KES 12.85 with 473,000 shares traded. Since the airline’s rights issue on Thursday last week, the share shed 60 cents until today’s close where it added 25 cents from yesterday’s closing price.
- KenolKobil – The share closed 40 cents higher than yesterday’s price hitting a new 5-year high of KES 15.90
