Closing Bell: Kakuzi Rises To Top Gainer as Sameer Africa Limited Declines

Kakuzi Limited was the top gainer at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). The counter registered a gain of 9.65% to end the day at KES. 284.00. This is a KES 25.00 gain per share.

Sameer Africa Limited took the lead as the worst performing share in the exchange. The counter registered a drop of 5.20% to end the day at KES 5.20. This is a KES 0.50 loss per share.

Sameer Group is one of the listed companies that has issued profit warnings. This means that its profits for the period will fall compared to the previous financial year. Other firms that issued profit warnings are: Pan Africa Insurance, East African Portland Cement, TPS Eastern Africa whose area of operation the tourism industry has been badly battered by insecurity, Mumias Sugar, Rea Vipingo, Mumias Sugar which has been weighed down by corruption scandals and cheap sugar imports, Sameer Group and Kapchorua Tea.

In its review of the week's trading at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, asset managers Cytonn Investments also projected there could be more companies recording lower profits than the previous year.
