National Bank Of Kenya Ltd was the top gainer at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE). The counter registered a gain of 8.31% to end the day at KES 21.50. This was a KES 1.65 gain in share price.
National Bank of Kenya today posted a 20 percent rise in first-quarter pretax profit to 707.28 million shillings, helped by higher interest income. National Bank has been going through a revamp to cut overall costs as part of an effort to recover its position as one of Kenya's top three lenders, a position it last held in 1996 before poor management hurt its performance.

Kakuzi Limited closed the day as the worst performing share registering a drop of 9.33%. The counter closed with a share price of KES 272.00 which was a KES 28.00 drop in share price.
