Closing Bell: Britam And Centum Among Top Gainers At The NSE

At 3.10 pm today when the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) closed:

The winners:

British-American Investments -Britam- (BRIT), Centum Investment Company Limited (ICDC), East African Portland Cement Company (PORT), Scangroup Limited (SCAN), and CIC Insurance Limited (CIC) gained the most in share price compared to their ending price yesterday. They closed at KES 28.00,63.00, 68.00, 43.50 and 10.30 respectively. Portland Cement had closed at KES 65.00 yesterday and at KES 70.50 on Friday. The Cement maker had posted a loss of KES 395 million for the year ended 30th June 2014. This is comparison to the KES 1.75 billion profit it had made for the year ended 30th June 2013.

 

The losers:

I & M Holdings Limited (I&M), Standard Group Limited (SGL), Kakuzi Limited (KUKZ), Eveready East Africa Limited (EVRD), and Olympia Capital Holdings Limited (OCH) shed the most value today. They ended the day at KES 122.00, 36.25, 200.00, 3.55 and 6.90 respectively.

Most shares traded:

Safaricom Limited (SCOM), Equity Bank Limited (EQTY) Mumias Sugar Company Limited (MSC), The Kenya Power & Lighting Company Limited (KPLC), and  the Co-operative Bank Of Kenya (COOP) were the biggest movers. 11.88 million Trans-century shares changed hands today representing 47.00% of all shares traded.
