Couple Wins House In Ecobank's Promotion

Sophie and Berry Odhiambo won a 3 bedroom bungalow worth KES 5 million in Ecobank’s Angukia Hao na Ecobank promotion. The promotion was a three month deposit mobilization. Joseph Kipkirui Ngetich and David Mwangi Rukwaro, first and second runners up took home KES 1,000,000 and KES 500,000 respectively.

Sophie and Berry emerged winners following a grand draw held at Ecobank on September 7th 2012 and witnessed by an official of the Betting Control and Licensing Board. Their joint savings account won them the house. Ecobank Managing Director, Tony Okpanachi broke the good news to them through a phone call shortly after the grand draw ceremony.

“At first I did not believe when the voice on the other end of the phone said I had won a house. I have never won anything in my life and for a moment I thought it was just a dream or a prank call. It took me several days to digest the information,” said Barry, who picked the phone when the MD called.

The Promotion, which kicked off in May, was aimed at fostering a savings culture, financial inclusiveness, improving brand visibility and ultimately rewarding Ecobank customers. Participation and entry into the promotion required one to deposit a minimum of KES 2,000 into their savings account/current account or open an account with the same amount.

Commenting on the promotion, Ecobank Managing Director, Mr. Tony Okpanachi applauded the winners and confirmed the bank’s consistent commitment to grow Kenyans wealth through savings. He said the campaign had lived up to its expectations.

Running for three months, the promotion has seen people walk away with monthly prizes such as fridges, microwaves, motorcycles and cameras within and outside Nairobi.
