Safaricom has partnered with PesaPoint to unveil a new service that enables M-PESA subscribers to transfer money from their bank accounts into their M-PESA account through their ATM cards, saving one the hustle of withdrawing cash from their bank account and then having to deposit it to M-PESA through an agent.

This service will be available at any of the 80 PesaPoint ATMs countrywide on a 24-hour basis, making it ideal in those emergency situations where one has to send money urgently.

Charges for transferring cash through the service are the normal ATM withdrawal rates.

You will however not be able to transfer from your bank account to another person’s phone since the system will ask for a single number once which will be recorded and kept.

This is yet another innovation in the growing mobile banking.
