Ecobank Kenya has plans to open four new branches in Kenya. Incorporated as Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the bank entered the Kenyan market in 2008 at difficult time from the industry due to the post election unrest evidenced in the country. The bank currently has 24 branches in the country and plans to roll 4 more branches countrywide.
Ecobank Kenya Managing Director Tony Okpanachi says that the bank plans to have increased its customer base to over 200,000 by the end of the year. The bank also plans to roll out agency banking services in a bid to increase its customer reach and increase deposits.
Okpanachi said the bank is committed towards improving the economy of the country by offering products and services that are in line with the dynamic and growing customer needs.
“We have witnessed increasing request for loans of small amounts from our customers hence our decisions to come with the Salary Advance Account which will be used for various purposes including emergencies like paying for medical expenses, school fees and purchase of household goods,” He said during the launch of the Karen branch in April.
Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), Ecobank's parent company acquired 75 per cent of EABS Bank, and renamed it Ecobank Kenya in 2008.
