Express Kenya-Amadeus Deal Promises Cost-Effective Customer Service

Express Travel Group (Kenya) and Amadeus East Africa have signed a deal that will improve service delivery within the region’s travel industry.

Speaking during a recent exchange with pesatalk, Amadeus Sales and Marketing Manager, Moses Nyagah, confirmed that the firm had formed an alliance with the Express Travel Group.

“Amadeus is focusing on technology and thinking in terms of the total solution customers seek, even if that is to take our customers beyond their traditional offerings,” said the company’s General Manager, Juan Torres, during the official signing ceremony on November 5th, 2012.

Express Travel Group (Kenya), which deals with air and sea clearing services, packing, warehousing and transport services, believes that the merger will help achieve a more personalized approach to customer service.

Amadeus, one of East Africa’s leading IT solution providers, added that the joint venture is set to open up a faster and more effective automated approach to doing business. The move will see cumbersome processes like clearing and forwarding done faster than ever before.

“Amadeus is already the technology partner of choice for many American Express offices around the world,” said Express Travel Group CEO, Richard Markham. “As the exclusive American Express Representative in Kenya, Express Travel Group will continue to make changes for the maximum benefit of their clients.”

The merger comes mere weeks after Express Kenya cut back on it rights issue. The clearance service provider plans to float KES 323 million, 70% less than the initial KES 1.1 billion. According to recent report, the Company’s public transport branch has not been doing well. The firm has since dumped its non-core assets and leased out some of its trucks to reduce liabilities.

However, Markham believes that the partnership will help the company broaden its industry presence.
