Kenyans studying abroad will no longer get loans and bursaries from the Ministry of Higher Education Science and Technology. In a letter addressed to Kenyan Embassies and High Commissions, the Ministry instructed foreign missions to inform Kenyan students residing in the respective countries of tne new developments.
“We are in receipt of a letter from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nairobi informing that the Ministry of Higher Education , Science and Technology is no longer providing loans and bursaries and that the students should therefore look for alternative ways to fund their education and subsistence abroad,” read a letter from the Kenyan High Commission in India and addressed to Chairmen of Kenya African Students Association (KASA).
Efforts to reach the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology to comment on the matter were fruitless as phone calls went unanswered the whole day.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology was among other things charged with disbursement of grants and bursaries to local and overseas university students as well as regional and international institutions and organization that are linked to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
We will follow up on this and keep you updated on any developments.
