Get a Yamaha Motorbike for KES 350 A Day

Toyota Kenya’s two wheeler wing, Yamaha, has rolled out a nationwide campaign to encourage the youth and other entrepreneurs to take advantage of a financing deal that will allow customers to purchase a Crux motorcycle for KES 350 a day. This, Yamaha says, is a bid to raise the profile of the motorcycle transport business commonly referred to as Boda-Boda. Yamaha,  has embarked on a national promotional road show dubbed ‘Bike ya Nguvu Bei Poa spanning six regions namely Western, Nairobi, Coast, Rift Valley, Central and Eastern.

The KES 350 a day offer is specifically customized through a partnership with Motorbank Asset Financing & Tracking Solutions for Boda Boda operators who reportedly make an estimated KES 500 profit on leased bikes in a day. Through this campaign Kenyan entrepreneurs will be able to access Yamaha bikesto enable them grow their Boda Boda business.

Road safety

With partners such as the Automobile Association of Kenya (AA), the campaign also focuses on educating operators on road safety, with the goal of reducing motorcycle related accidents and fatalities among Boda Boda operators in Kenya. The association will also be sensitizing the operators on the comprehensive licensing which is a mandatory but often lacking documentation among the riders. The 21 day campaign aims to transform the Boda Boda sector by addressing prevailing welfare, health & safety, licensing, security and financing challenges that have to date crippled the progressive business.

“The road show is our effort to respond to the huge interest throughout Kenya to attain durable, highly efficient and low maintenance cost motorcycles. In fact, Yamaha Crux is especially designed to ensure optimum transportation and delivery services. Our partnership with AA Kenya and Motor Bank will ensure that customers not only get bikes, but that they are also properly licensed and enabled financially to acquire them,” said Wanjohi Kangangi, Yamaha General Manager.

Saving and Insurance

Yamaha’s other key campaign partners National Social Security Fund (NSSF), National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) will also join the caravan to sensitize the Boda Boda community on the importance of saving for retirement, and health insurance.

“NHIF is about ensuring that all Kenyan people can access health services across the country. We expect to attract the Boda Boda community into taking our KES 160 per month health insurance package. This will ensure that they and their family members are covered and can access medical care. This package can be extended to cover the passengers,” Mr. Simeon ole Kirgotty, Chief Executive Officer of  NHIF said during the flag off ceremony.
