Get paid to Save Water

Banki Ya Maji, a new app, is being developed that will see you earn from reducing the volume of water you use daily. This service will entail an individual/household opening an account with Banki ya Maji (BYM) , principally via the internet providing the required details. Thereafter, BYM will querry their account history with the water provider, then calculate the applicant's monthly average consumption.

BYM will then communicate this average to the applicant as their target or goal. If they can maintain their monthly consumption, they get awarded a series of points, which are redeemable for discounts on goods/services from BYM's network of partners.

Each and every point awarded to households will mean that a quantifiable volume of water has not been consumed therefore resulting to greater supplies of water which will mean that the water service provider would be able to either reduce water rationing to particular areas, or alternatively supply more customers with water. BYM will generate its income by charging water suppliers for each point issued to households in return for this improved storage supply. The firm will partner with WSPs (Water Service Providers) in the Nairobi region only. The tentative charge per point shall be 40 cents.
