You may soon say goodbye to long queues in public offices as the government makes plans to introduce convenient civilian service centers across the country. The government has decided to improve service delivery in the public sector.
According to the Cabinet, the government plans to set up a synchronized system that will enable Kenyans to access information and services from the public sector with ease. Cabinet has already approved the proposal which has yet to be put into service.
The move is aimed at improving services offered by government Ministries, Departments along with other government Agencies across the country.
The plan involves setting up call centers in various parts of the country. The proposal will also include the establishment of an online web portal as well as a mobile phone platform which will be used as a payment gateway for public services.
This means that Kenyans will have faster and more efficient access to public information as well as more convenient methods of paying their bills within the public sector. Cabinet’s decision follows a similar move by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), using M-Pesa as a platform to make contributions to the pension fund.
Implementation is still in its starting phase and has yet to receive any funding from the Treasury. The government has not yet set a date as to when the project will kick off.
