How Disorganization is Costing You Money

Your disorganization is costing you a great deal of money. Here are some ways through which you are simply throwing money out the window, money that you could have saved if you tried to be a little organized.

  1. Missed payments and extra charges– Rent is not a thing most of us forget to pay, but in case you forget, some landlords charge an extra fee. Water and electricity bills also have an extra charge for bills settled beyond the deadline.
  2. Emergency purchases– Let’s assume that you are not keeping track of the things that need buying in the house, and suddenly you discover that you are out of rice. The only shop that is near you has the costly type, or charges an extra five shillings. But you know what, you have to buy. It’s an emergency! If you are doing this very often, with more than one item, then honey, you need to get organized!
  3. Double purchases– Yes, sometimes we forget and buy things we already have. A good excuse would be that we are still going to use it eventually. But what if they have an expiry date? Or maybe the packet you had was to last you a year!
  4. Replacing misplaced stuff- Other times, we get too disorganized and misplace stuff, so the only solution is to buy again.
  5. Buying take-out – Say you woke up late in the morning and didn’t have enough time to make and take breakfast. You therefore result to buying a sandwich from the supermarket, not because you crave for it, but because you desperately need breakfast. You could have saved that money if you woke up earlier, or organized your time.
  6. Uncontrolled spending– automatically self explanatory.
  7. Broken items – disorganization translates to carelessness which means you have to replace stuff in the house ever so often. And…they cost money!
  8. Spoiled food
  9. Lost productivity– they say that time wasted being unproductive costs money.
  10.  Unrealized Moneythis applies in the case of gift cards. Our disorganization will most probably lead us to losing them, or forgetting all about them. There are gift cards or vouchers that lose value when they go unused.

You do realize that it is the little leaks that cost us a lot of money, right? A little organization in your life wouldn’t hurt much. And organization, as you see from the above list, does not just mean having a shopping list. It sweeps every corner of our lives.
