Did you know that The National Social Security Fund (NSSF) has a funeral grant that caters to the funeral expenses for its members?
The grant is payable to a dependant of a deceased member, and the deceased should have made at least three monthly contributions to NSSF.
This money is given to assist in the burial of a deceased contributor and it is not deducted from the deceased’s account. So, how much will NSSF contribute?
The amount payable for this grant currently stands at KES 2,500. Considering how expensive funerals tend to be, this amount is just a drop in the ocean, though it is important to note that NSSF requires that the grant must be paid back within three months of a member’s death.
