I stumbled on GOtv’s Labour Day offer, on one of the papers this morning, and I tried to figure out how practical or cost effective it is.
The offer states that you can buy a GOtv decoder for KES 3,340 when you subscribe for 3 months upfront.
The normal monthly subscription rate after their recent price review is KES 720, so if you subscribe for 3 months upfront you will pay KES 2,160 for three months subscription:
720 X 3 = KES 2,160
In the long run, you will pay KES 3,340 for the decoder and KES 2,160 for 3 months subscription upfront, bringing the total to KES 5,500
2,160 + 3,340 = KES 5,500
As far as I am concerned this retail price (KES 5,500) for GOtv installation plus 3 months subscription has been around for about a month now (Click here to read more about it) so this Labour Day offer reflects no price change.
