An Ipsos-Synovate report released yesterday found that majority of women in urban Kenya prefer Toyotas over other car makes and Nokia over other phone types. Its interesting to note that Alcatel was included in the report.
One question that arises is whether, when talking about cars, are they talking of cars they own, or would like to own. With Toyota Prado taking the top spot, I’m inclined to think its cars they would like to own.
They also prefer to shop in neighbourhood stalls and markets such as Toi, over going to upmarket stores such as Angelo’s.
Are Kenyan women prudent by choice, or is by circumstance? If you are a Kenyan woman, would your lifestyle change if you quadrupled your income? Would you now shop at Alcott and Mr. Price, rather than the local stalls? Share your thoughts with us.
